L’Oreal’s latest addition to the mascara scene is very reminiscent of a certain high-end fashion-house-gone-beauty brand’s very popular mascara of 2008… Givenchy’s Phenomen’Eyes anyone?!
L’Oreal’s Telescopic Explosion Mascara has a very similar brush, but the wand is much longer and skinnier. It takes a few tries to get used to applying mascara with a little round ball like this, but once you get the hang of it, it does have its benefits. It seem like every single lash gets some product on it, which is nice. But I did have some problems with clumping. A lot of product is on the brush when it comes out, so you have to be careful or huge chunks end up on your lashes.
Once it has been brushed out, however, the effect is pretty great. My lashes were nice and dark, but not overly so, and curled up ever so lightly. Best part: no 5 o’clock shadow! This mascara does not smudge, smear, travel, or fall throughout the day… one feature Givenchy’s version had a major issue with. I like this one better, even though it is a little clumpy to apply and takes a very steady, patient hand.

Beth, this looks awesome! I never got around to trying Givenchy's version, but am super excited to try this one out. I love L'Oreal's Telescopic Mascara, so this seems perfect for me. Great post!
I hate this stuff. I tried it on myself, several times, and my clients as well. Not good. Clumpy, messy and time consuming. Don't waste your money. It is definitely not the same formula as the original telescopic, which is awesome. Don't be fooled into thinking it's the same or even close.

Wow, I'm surprised at the comments, I absolutely love the new telescopic brush! I'm a women with very scant, almost non-existent lashes and for that reason so many other mascaras on the market-and very good ones at that-nevertheless looked heavy or unatural on me. This mascara is the breakthrough!! The formula is excellent but the brush is what makes this brand so special, and it was no trouble at all mastering the application technique. Actually I found it pretty easy! And the result…I was thrilled..it gave me beautiful, natural looking lashes-no clumping-no heavyness..finally I've found a mascara for life!!! Thanks again L'Oreal, you never let me down.
Thank you so much for putting a brush in a mascara I can control. I absolutely love it. I have no more "glops" on my eyelids like I had with the conventional brushes. Can't tell you thanks enough!!!!
