CoverGirl LashBlast Waterproof Mascara

lashblast_waterproof_mascara_1When packing for a weekend at the beach, a few beauty items most not be forgotten. My friend Megan kindly reminded me that having a waterproof mascara is essential. I was skeptical of purchasing one just for my mexico trip since I’ve never had much luck with waterproof formulas. They seem to always disappoint,  never giving a ton of volume. Typically, washing them off involves a lot of elbow grease and lost lashes. Against my better judgment, I bought a tube of CoverGirl’s LashBlast Waterproof Mascara. I thought that since I like their regular formula and for $7 or so, it was worth attempting to prove myself wrong.

Well, my only success was in proving myself right. This mascara was pretty much awful. It gave my lashes a bit of color, which was good, but hardly any volume or curl. After spending about 4-5 hours by the pool, mostly keeping my head dry, it had smudged a little under my eyes. Then when I went to shower, it smudged a ton more under my eyes and then would NOT come off! I looked like a raccoon. Only a lot of lotion and vigorous rubbing with a towel got the dark smudges off my eyes and lashes. My skin already feeling delicate from excessive sun exposure, this did not feel good!

So, instead of traditional waterproof mascara formulas, I would recommend tube mascaras that are water-resistant (not “waterproof”) and when washed off, a little rubbing makes them come off completely in chunks, without any smudging. Two of my favorites are Too Faced Lash Injection Pinpoint and Kevyn Aucoin The Mascara. Try them out for your next beach vacation! I know I will.

Beach Lovely!
