MAC Paint Pot in Painterly – Amazing eyeshadow base!
This is definitely a product I had been meaning to try forever, but for one reason or another (didn’t want to spend the money, had something similar already, was lazy, etc.) but now that I finally did, I’m obsessed and not sure how I ever lived without it. MAC’s Paint Pots are totally fabulous products, but I’m not sure how much I would use the darker shades. I have had a paint pot in “Bare Study” for ages and it is still half full. While the shimmery neutral-pink shade is a good base for many looks I use, sometimes I want matte. So in comes “Painterly,” a super awesome neutral matte beige. It acts as a flawless base for some fun eyeliner or under any type of eye shadow, shimmer, frost or matte. I just stick my pointer finger in and get a bit on my fingertip and blend it on my lids. It makes such a difference to any shadow you place over it, making pigments bolder and sharper. I highly recommend this product for anyone who likes to do even basic eye makeup, and definitely for those who like to get a bit more creative. I even use Painterly on its own, when I want to do that no makeup-makeup look. With mascara of course!
Base Lovely!

How does creasing fare just using this?
Love this stuff- I also wear it alone with just eyeliner for a very minimal but effective look.
Lena,
I don’t get any creasing when I just use this… and I’d say it lasts 6-8 hours before needing a touchup.
Thanks!

me too! Love!!!
Hi,
Thanks for the review. I also like the no makeup-makeup look. In fact, I do it quite often especially when in a rush. Painterly with mascara and eyeliner only? That sounds quite me.
I LOVE Painterly! I found it recently as a replacement to Benefit’s F.Y.Eye since they discontinued it and replaced it with a product that doesn’t work for my skin. The Painterly is the perfect matte base that my somewhat oily skin needs… keeps my shadow in place all day long (I use a combo of Stilla, Benefit and MaryKay eye shadows). And a little goes a long way…just so glad I found it!
Yay, so glad you found it too!
Do you apply foundation (or something of the sort) underneath? I have dark eyelids compared to the rest of my face, and was thinking of using Soft Ochre or Painterly to even out my skin tone there. Thanks!
How much does it cost the mac paint pot in painterly???
