Get of of your comfort zone with Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Summer 2012 Collection

When I first opened up the box from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, I literally laughed out loud. These people must be nuts?! Green and Purple lip colors?! Wow. Their Summer Garden Collection is definitely out there, a mix of pretty spring neutrals and vibrant POPs of color. Pictured at left are the new OCC Lip Tars in Digitalis, Belladonna, and Chlorophyll.

But once I got over my initial shock at the shades, I went ahead and tried them. Ok, not the purple and green, but some of the others are actually quite wearable! The OCC Lip Tars are a very unique product.

You need just the tiniest bit of the OCC Lip Tar and it is best applied with a lip brush, but I used my fingers and did ok. Pictured at right are OCC Lip Tars in Ophelia, Pennyroyal, and Kava Kava. I found both Kava Kava, an peachy orange color, and Ophelia, a pretty pale pink, to be wearable. They are definitely offer a very opaque full color look.

After I applied them and covered my lips entirely, I would always blot them down a bit so the color wasn’t sooo intense. I got tons of compliments when I wore Ophelia the other day, especially since it perfectly matched one of the shades of pink in my sun dress. Yay for pink sun dress weather in San Francisco!

So don’t let the colors scare you, OCC Lip Tars are a must-try lip product for any beauty junkie. They are 100% Vegan and Cruelty-Free, and free of parabens and other harsh preservatives. They contain Hemp Oil, Peppermint Oil and Vitamin E, so they taste, feel AND look good. They go on slick and moist, and then dry down to a satin finish.

I found the color lasted awhile, like a stain, but I had to reapply to get that intense color again after eating. Maybe I will even try the green or purple someday, for a crazy out there look… or trying mixing them together perhaps. Although I think some things are made and should remain just for high fashion photo shoots.

OCC Lip Tars are $14.00 each and available online.

Tar Lovely!
