I’ve lived in the same neighborhood for 5 years. Ok, same apartment even. Crazy to think about really. The whole time I’ve lived here, I’ve walked by this dingy little salon on Bay St. But a few months ago, I heard they had renovated the whole place. When they put up a shiny new sign, I knew it was forreal and I knew I had to check it out.
Aphrodite Salon and Spa is your neighborhood salon owned and operated by a family for years and years. I met Tiffany, who did me and my mom’s nails, and Carol who was running the front desk. Both ladies were super friendly and made us feel at home. Right now Tiffany is the only one doing nails but they are hoping to hire someone else.
They have a beautiful nail setup, with these super unique chairs on a platform for the pedicures. They use removable disposable liners in the foot
baths which I love, and just a slight vibration under the tub, not on the chairs, which I also much prefer. Everything in the salon is brand new. They really did a nice job with their renovation.
For my manicure, I chose OPI’s No Room for the Blues on all fingers except my ring finger, for those I did Go on Green!. It was a really fun springy manicure.
My mom tried a blue polish too, with I’m Dating a Royal. Her first blue manicure and it looked great! They have an awesome collection of OPI, Essie, and a few other brands.
They are a little pricer than the other nail salon within a block, at $13 for a manicure. But the polish selection and the quality of the manicure make it worth it.
