San Francisco Spa Review: Imperial Spa, a Korean Oasis in Japantown

Last week my mom was in town, so in order to treat her and myself to some quality mother-daughter time, I made appointments at a Korean style spa recommended to me by my waxer. She told me it was cheap, clean, and really wonderful. You just have to be very comfortable with being naked around a bunch of women. Fine with me!

Imperial Spa in Japantown in San Francisco is a typical Korean style spa, where you can just pay $25 to go use the hot tub and other spa facilties, or you can pay more to get a body scrub and massage. We did it all, and it only cost $90 each. Such a bargain!

But this is not a spa for the shy, nor is it for those looking for luxury and peace. It is very commual, you have to be comfortable baring it all around strangers. If that is ok with you, then next you have to be comfortable with having your entire naked body srubbed to death by a peite korean lady. And then washed, and then massaged, and then washed again.

I loved it and so did my mom. But again, I feel like its not for everyone. My skin felt A-MAZING afterwards. So soft and smooth. The massage was pretty intense too, but I am kind of a massage wimp. I was sore for a couple days. The whole treatments is very methodically, but relaxing at the same time. They even wash your hair and give you a cucumber mask.

I will definietly recommend Imperial Spa to my friends, as long as they are fine with getting naked in public… we’re all ladies!

Spa Lovely!
