Age of Beauty: Keeping My 20s Here as Long as Possible

In this age of beauty, it seems like there are endless miracle creams and magic potions on the market meant to reverse the signs of aging. A woman like me in my late 20s needs to focus less on repair and more on prevention. My beauty routine has certainly matured over the years, especially in the last few. I focus now on more consistency and protection, less on fighting blemishes like i did in my teens and early 20s.

Right off the bat, I can tell you what I tell everyone my number one skincare recommendation is, to women of all ages: Sunscreen. It is that simple. Wear an SPF of at least 30 every single day. I don’t car if the sky is overcast and you plan on spending all day inside. Just make it a habit and your skin will thank you for years to come.Right now I’ve been using this daily moisturizer from Own Skincare, Own Dual Protecting Day Lotion meaning it protects your from both UVA and UVB rays.

The next most important thing to keeping your skin clear and your wrinkles at bay is an Exfoliator. I try to work it into my routine at least twice a week. Helping your skin renew itself regularly helps avoid blemishes and allow fresh skin cells to shine through. I have quite a few products I love to slough off the dead and bring in the new but my favorite right now is Algenist’s Triple Action Micropolish & Peel. It is the perfect mix of physical and chemical exfoliantes. Micro-crystals for a pysical scrub and a mix of glycolic acid, alguronic acid, and fruit enzymes. Any product with glycolic acid, be it a scrub, a toner or a cream, is bound to help maintain and renew your skin, 20s or not.

Something I’ve added to my skincare routine only in the last year or so is Night Cream. I was always so concerned with drying out my breakout prone t-zone, I never gave applying cream on my face at night. I always wore moisturizer during the day though. But then I tried a couple really nice night creams and I got hooked. And I think my skin actually breakouts less as a result. Many women who try to treat blemishes end up over drying their skin and then causing their skin to over produce oil… its a vicious cycle. One of my favorite night creams is Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica Lightweight Cream. Night Creams do not have to be heavy to be magical, and this one is a perfect balance of treatment and moisture.

Another thing that every women needs is a great foundation.
